Revenue Cuts present major challenge for New Hampshire.

June 10, 2011 In a Two-Minute State DOT Update video, New Hampshire Transportation Commissioner George Campbell said his agency anticipates a big reduction in the miles it will be able to repave this year, due in large part to shrinking state transportation revenues. New Hampshire DOT survived an effort to suspend state's gasoline tax for several weeks. However, both chambers of the state legislature voted to reduce motor vehicle surcharge, which cuts $55 million a year from the DOT and Department of Safety.

Green @ Noon track will focus on topics concerning environmental issues in tire industry. Wine and Cheese Social, Tire Industry Honors, and Welcome Reception will also be held.

AASHTO executive director John Horsley noted that "this is one way to meet [Americans'] demand for greater access to information while on the go." App also features optimized versions of 2 transportation news sites: Daily Transportation Update and AASHTO Journal.

June 10, 2011 Under requirements of law, EPA will gather information on what nanoscale materials are present in pesticide products in order to determine whether registration of pesticide may cause unreasonable adverse effects on environment and human health. EPA also recognizes potentially beneficial applications and will continue to encourage responsible, innovative development of products containing nanoscale materials while also addressing health or environmental concerns.

June 9, 2011 U.S. Department of Agriculture has unveiled MyPlate, which replaces food pyramid and focuses on fruit, vegetable, grains, protein, and dairy food groups. Food group icon encourages consumers to make half their plate fruits and vegetables. In addition, ANSI member NSF International is developing BSR/NSF 3-A 14159-5 standard which details hygiene requirements for equipment used in produce processing, while ISO has developed standards on proper harvesting and storage of various fruits and vegetables.

EPA Takes Actions to reduce risks from mouse/rat poisons.

June 8, 2011 To better protect children, pets, and wildlife, U.S. EPA announced it is moving to ban sales to residential consumers of most toxic rat and mouse poisons as well as most loose bait and pellet products. Newly registered rat and mouse poisons marketed to residential consumers are also being required to be enclosed in bait stations that render pesticide inaccessible to children and pets. Furthermore, wildlife that consume bait or poisoned rodents will also be protected by EPA's actions.
