There, traffic management specialists balance air traffic demand with system capacity and work with aviation stakeholders to handle any system constraints such as weather, runway closures, and delays. Employees also coordinate with air traffic controllers at facilities throughout country to ensure air traffic moves as smoothly as possible.

April 12, 2011 AIA March poll showed 68% of Americans support new technologies to improve air safety, while 65% favor maintaining or increasing FAA funding levels. Also, majority of Americans knowledgeable about NextGen air traffic control system support timely implementation of bill. Passing fiscal year 2011 appropriations bill by Congress will allow FAA to enter into new contracts, move forward with new construction, hire more safety inspectors, and certify new technology activities.

EPA to Address IRIS Assessments with in-depth reviews.

April 12, 2011 U.S. EPA plans to address 4 draft Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) assessments - methanol, methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), and acrylonitrile - placed on hold in June 2010, pending review of underlying studies relied on in said assessments. Review has begun and will continue over next several months. Results will be made public, and cancer assessment for methanol will remain on hold until its completion.

April 12, 2011 February U.S. manufacturing technology consumption, according to AMT and AMTDA, totaled $329.43 million as reported by companies participating in USMTC program. While down 10.9% from January, this total was up 99.3% compared with February 2010. Year-to-date total of $699.16 million is up 138.1% compared with 2010. According to AMT President Douglas K. Woods, this dramatic growth underscores current manufacturing renaissance taking place.

NIST Standard Reference Material 2906 includes 4 ampoules each of 3 explosives and a blank along with dropper bottle for each. Under test protocol, users sequentially apply drop of explosive solution and solvent blank to swipes. Solvents are allowed to evaporate, and instrument is tested. Yes-no alarm checklist is used to determine TED performance.
