November 15, 2011 According to United States Manufacturing Technology Orders report, jointly compiled by AMTDA and AMT, September U.S. manufacturing technology orders totaled $606.56 million, up 22.9% from August and up 51.9% when compared with total of $399.32 million reported from September 2010. With year-to-date total of $4,074.00 million, 2011 is up 91.9% compared with 2010. USMTO report provides regional and national U.S. orders data of domestic and imported machine tools and related equipment.

November 14, 2011 Effective November 28, Dr. Gregory M. Wilson will become director of National Center for Photovoltaics (NCPV) at U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) NREL. Wilson brings 17 years of experience in silicon research and in photovoltaic leadership to NCPV from his work at MEMC. Wilson stated, "I am convinced that photovoltaic research and technology development within the NCPV can lead the way in achieving widespread grid parity for multiple photovoltaic technologies."
AMCA International forms Asia-AMCA joint venture.

November 11, 2011 At its annual meeting in Poipu, Hawaii, AMCA International announced formation of a new Asian joint venture. Partnership will be majority owned by AMCA International with minority interest held by AFMA, which previously operated licensed AMCA independent laboratory in Singapore and acted as AMCA's agent serving Southeast Asia. Asia AMCA will expand its staff to better serve the region and will provide all AMCA headquarters functions and certification services from Singapore.
ASABE announces project to revise microirrigation standard.

November 11, 2011 ASAE EP405.1, Design and Installation of Microirrigation Systems, was approved by ASABE in April 1988 and has been systematically reviewed every 5 years per ASABE Standardization Procedures. Latest periodic review elicited suggestions to update standard to reflect changes in terminology and compliance with current practices. Also, improvements in industry products have brought into question some performance values provided within EP405.1.
ASABE to revise animal-drawn equipment standard.

November 11, 2011 ASABE has initiated project to revise ANSI/ASAE EP576.1, Lighting and Marking of Animal-Drawn Equipment. Currently published standard has effective recommendations for animal-drawn wagons and buggies. However, safety professionals working with Anabaptist communities have identified additional recommendations that are needed for various low-profile wagons operating on public roads, including pony carts, which are commonly operated by children.

Home Builders Commit to new 2012 Energy Star guidelines.

November 10, 2011 More than 400 builders, including 6 of country's largest (Ashton Woods Homes, Beazer Homes, KB Home, Meritage Homes, M/I Homes, and NVR, Inc), have agreed to develop Energy Star-qualified homes in 2012. All have made corporate commitments to meeting new requirements that mandate Energy Star homes be at least 15% more efficient than homes built to 2009 IECC and feature additional measures that deliver total energy efficiency improvement of up to 30% compared to typical new homes.
NASA signs agreement to reuse Kennedy Space Center facilities.

November 10, 2011 In agreement that will create jobs, NASA announced partnership with Space Florida to exclusively occupy, use, and modify Kennedy Space Center's Orbiter Processing Facility-3, the Space Shuttle Main Engine Processing Facility and Processing Control Center. Space Florida is leasing Orbiter Processing Facility-3 to the Boeing Company to manufacture and test the company's Crew Space Transportation spacecraft, creating up to 550 jobs along the Space Coast.
