March 19, 2012 ASABE document, ANSI/ASABE AD4254-11:2010, Agricultural machinery-Safety-Part 11: Pick-up balers, was adopted to clarify the North American position related to baler guarding and pick-ups. It further harmonizes national and international standardization to facilitate manufacturing, safety advancements, and product marketing worldwide, while recognizing areas North American practices differ from those described in ISO 4254-11:2010, Agricultural machinery-Safety-Part 11: Pick-up balers.

This public workshop, to be held at NIST headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD, will provide forum for discussion on current approaches to conformity assessment among federal agencies and private sector. Also, workshop will help inform planned update to NIST's Guidance on Federal Conformity Assessment Activities (15 C.F.R. Part 287). Event is free, but advance registration is required.

James Inhofe (R-OK), Lead Exposure Reduction Amendments Act of 2012 seeks to restore the "Opt-Out" provision removed from EPA's Lead Renovate, Repair and Painting rule in April 2010. Legislation has been directed to Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW). AAMA supports revisions to current LRRP requirements and will be providing information to members of EPW to address questions regarding EPA's decision to eliminate Opt-Out provision.

March 15, 2012 Coffeyville Resources Refining and Marketing (CRRM) has agreed to pay civil penalty totaling more than $970,000 as well as invest over $4.25 million on new pollution controls and $6.5 million in operating costs. Settlement resolves alleged violations of Clean Air Act (CAA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) at Coffeyville, KS refinery.

Robbins, who joined ASTM in 1984, works on several G03 subcommittee and chairs Subcommittee G03.02 on Natural and Environmental Exposure Tests.
