Asia continues to be biggest overall region with 262,080,147 subscribers in total, having added 8,575,397 new lines at growth rate of 3.38% in quarter and 15.19% in year.

July 3, 2012 Developed by Subcommittee B02.07 on Refined Nickel and Cobalt and Their Alloys, ASTM B983, Specification for Precipitation Hardened or Cold Worked, Seamless Nickel Alloy Pipe and Tube will be used to define strength and corrosion resistance of covered alloys. ASTM B983 outlines chemical composition ranges and heat treatment parameters that users will need to obtain minimum mechanical properties listed in standard. Three primary alloys covered include UNS N07022, UNS N07725, and UNS N07740.

July 3, 2012 ASTM Subcommittee E10.01 on Radiation Processing: Dosimetry and Applications has been reorganized as ASTM Committee E61 on Radiation Processing. New main committee will revise and maintain existing Subcommittee E10.01 standards as well as develop new standards that cover entire irradiation process, from dosimetry selection to analysis of routine processing results. Committee E61 will continue to sponsor Workshops on Dosimetry for Radiation Processing.

Italian researchers have developed Thermal Quasi-Reflectography tool, which can capture features not otherwise detectable with naked eye or current imaging techniques. Researchers have detailed their work in paper published in Optical Society's open-access journal Optics Express.

June 29, 2012 NEMA's Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) for current North American conditions dropped to 52.4 in June and has retreated 20+ points since reaching post-recession high in February. However, index continues to indicate economic environment conducive to industry growth as it has for each of last 9 months. EBCI for future North American conditions also lowered in June, falling nearly 14 points to 57.1. One-third of panelists expected conditions to improve over next 6 months.

June 28, 2012 June 2012 PMA Business Conditions Report shows metalforming companies expect business conditions to decline during next 3 months. Of 114 participating companies, 11% anticipate improvement, 57% predict stagnation, and 32% predict decline. Companies also forecast downward trend in incoming orders, with 15% for increase, 52% for no change, and 33% for decrease. Also, average daily shipping levels declined: 31% cited rise, 39% said levels were same, and 30% noted decrease.
