Ensuring reliability/affordability of fuel supplies through diversification, this is also critical for military readiness and national security, according to Brent Erickson of BIO.

Standard identifies minimum requirements for what digital data should be collected during design and construction, so that information is available later to manage assets throughout life of building. Once updated and finalized, based on consensus feedback, COBie Guide will be submitted as best practice ballot to NBIMS Version 3.

Abstracts are being sought on such aspects of Lean implementation as real-world, in-depth case studies of how Lean has been implemented in EMS companies; value stream mapping; Kaizen events; 5S; and Lean DOE basics. Submissions should be of noncommercial nature and feature real-life experiences.

July 3, 2012 NEMA welcomed bipartisan approval by House and Senate of legislation to consolidate and reauthorize federal highway and transit programs. Package includes support for developing and deploying technology solutions to increase efficiency of U.S. roadways and make them safer and less congested. NEMA worked to include beneficial provisions in this new law, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21), which sets funding levels and requirements through September 2014.

July 3, 2012 Team of scientists from Cobalt Technologies assembled at NREL to supersize their process for making renewable butanol. Cobalt had proven in the lab that its anaerobic microorganism could take organic feedstocks and convert them into biobutanol. Cobalt's team was able to leverage NREL's Integrated Biorefinery Research Facility for their scale-up testing. IBRF's equipment can support industry partners looking to evaluate new technologies in demonstration-size facility.

July 3, 2012 Developed by Subcommittee B02.07 on Refined Nickel and Cobalt and Their Alloys, ASTM B983, Specification for Precipitation Hardened or Cold Worked, Seamless Nickel Alloy Pipe and Tube will be used to define strength and corrosion resistance of covered alloys. ASTM B983 outlines chemical composition ranges and heat treatment parameters that users will need to obtain minimum mechanical properties listed in standard. Three primary alloys covered include UNS N07022, UNS N07725, and UNS N07740.

July 3, 2012 ASTM Subcommittee E10.01 on Radiation Processing: Dosimetry and Applications has been reorganized as ASTM Committee E61 on Radiation Processing. New main committee will revise and maintain existing Subcommittee E10.01 standards as well as develop new standards that cover entire irradiation process, from dosimetry selection to analysis of routine processing results. Committee E61 will continue to sponsor Workshops on Dosimetry for Radiation Processing.
