To help pass on the spirit of innovation to industry's next generation, each company designated college or scholarship program to which IPC will make a $1,500 donation in their honor. August 27, 2012 Conflict minerals rule approved by U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) includes all key provisions for which IPC and its members have been lobbying. Specifically, regulation includes 2 year phase-in period during which conflict minerals may be identified as "conflict undeterminable" and permits companies to designate recycled or scrap minerals as "DRC conflict free" after conducting reasonable inquiry.
Settlement with INEOS rectifies TSCA import violations.

August 24, 2012 To resolve Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) violations, INEOS Chlor Americas, Inc. has ended importation of short-chained chlorinated paraffins into USA and will pay $175,000 civil penalty. INEOS has also agreed to provide notices required by TSCA Section 5 to EPA for any medium- or long-chain chlorinated paraffin it wishes to import after date of lodging of decree. Allegedly, INEOS imported various chain-length chlorinated paraffins into USA without providing required notice to EPA.

ELFA releases Monthly Leasing and Finance Index for July.

August 24, 2012 According to ELFA's Monthly Leasing and Finance Index, overall new business volume for July was $6.6 billion, up 15.8% from $5.7 billion during same period in 2011. Volume was down 17.5% from previous month, and year-to-date cumulative new business volume increased 14.7%. Receivables over 30 days were 2.2%, down from 2.4% in June, while charge-offs decreased to 0.4% in July, down from 0.6% in June, and credit approvals decreased to 77.5% in July from 78.7% in June.

Company is also spending over $3 million to prevent polluted water from entering nearby waterways and will perform 3 environmental projects worth ~$742,000 that will provide water quality monitoring and protection efforts for 123+ square miles of watershed.

August 23, 2012 NEMA, its members who manufacture electric motors, and several other groups filed petition with U.S. Department of Energy recommending both new and more robust energy-efficiency standards for types of electric motors used in commercial and industrial applications, such as pumps, conveyors, and fans. In addition to increasing national energy savings, petitioners' recommendations to curtail current exemptions will simplify enforcement and severely limit opportunities to evade regulations.

This new partnership, National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII), includes manufacturing firms, universities, community colleges, and nonprofit organizations from Ohio-Pennsylvania-West Virginia Tech Belt. Consortium will receive initial $30 million in federal funding that will be matched by $40 million from consortium itself.
