Venice Municipal Airport receives $7.1 million grant.

September 13, 2012 Venice Municipal Airport in Venice, FL will receive $7.1 million dollar grant intended for runway repairs, runway safety area upgrades, and taxiway construction. Specifically, this grant will let airport reconstruct Runway 4/22 and allow for improvement of runway safety area to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards. Taxiway project will provide recommended separation between runway and taxiway.

September 13, 2012 On July 25-26, ISO held international workshop, "Global water challenges - How can ISO standards help?", focused on global water issues in Kobe, Japan. ISO's Implementation Task Force on Water, charged with integrating priorities set at workshop with ISO Council recommendations, will hold webinar in late September to further develop ideas discussed during workshop. ANSI encourages comments on ISO's water initiative to be sent by September 21, 2012.

Motors Shipments Climb in second quarter of 2012.

September 12, 2012 According to NEMA's Motors Shipments Index, demand for motors increased for third straight quarter during 2Q 2012 with increase of 5.3% from previous quarter. Since bottoming out in 2Q 2009, during depths of the Great Recession, index has climbed cumulative 53% and topped its pre-recession high for 5 straight quarters. While strong growth was also shown in fractional and integral horsepower motor segments, manufacturing sector only benefited from weak annualized gain of 1.4%.

Used to aid in proper selection of filament lamps for use in roadway and area lighting equipment, guide includes updated reference documents and modernized terms in line with current industry terminology. Information covered can also be found in American National Standards ANSI C136.4, ANSI C136.5, ANSI C136.6, and ANSI C136.11.
Indianapolis International Airport to receive FAA AIP grant.

September 12, 2012 Indianapolis International Airport will receive $3.2 million Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant intended for construction of de-icing containment facility. As announced by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, these investments help support economic growth as we enhance our nation's airports. Linings of both systems will be replaced, allowing for better efficiency on field. Existing storm water system is operating at full capacity.
FAA Announces Grant to reconstruct Van Nuys Airport runway.

September 12, 2012 Announced by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, $18.4 million FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant will be used to reconstruct and repave primary runway at Van Nuys Airport. Construction, which encompasses rehabilitation of entire 8,000 ft long primary runway, is expected to begin in early 2013 and take 9 months to complete. Acting FAA Administrator Michael Huerta said "This grant will ensure the airport will continue to operate safely and efficiently."

Adler taught courses in business law and business-government relations, among other topics, and also conducted academic research on product safety, product liability, and commercial law.

Cox Dayton International Airport. Once finished, project will ensure clear line of sight between control tower and aircraft movement area near terminal. FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant will specifically fund removal of Concourse D building as well as rehabilitation and expansion of apron area around terminal.

September 11, 2012 As announced by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, $10 million Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant has been offered as part of multi-year project to extend runways at Fort Worth Alliance Airport. Grant will pay for continued work to extend each of Alliance's 2 runways to 11,000 ft. Expected to be completed in 2016, this project has been underway for several years and involves relocating nearby state highway and railroad.
Machine Vision Sales increased 3% in second quarter.

September 11, 2012 According to AIA's Quarterly Machine Vision Sales Tracking Report, total machine vision sales in North America rose 3% compared to 2Q 2011. Sales of machine vision systems rose 2% year-over-year, while component sales saw 10% increase. Paul Kellett, Director of Market Analysis for AIA, said "industry experts do not expect an ongoing improvement," citing 53% of experts surveyed as expecting flat sales and 37% believing sales will decrease in next two quarters.

(IREC) announced 3 certificate-awarding entities have been accredited under ANSI-IREC pilot accreditation program for personnel training/education programs within energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. ANSI-IREC accreditation was awarded to CA-based CalCERTS, NC-based CleanTech Education, and WI-based Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA).

September 11, 2012 At 3.3% above its level one year ago and 48% above its level observed in mid-2009, NEMA's Primary Industrial Controls Index decreased 3% (quarter-to-quarter) during 2Q 2012. Primary Industrial Controls and Adjustable Speed Drives Index, as broader measure of industrial controls demand, also declined slightly (1.3%) during 2Q 2012. This follows 10.2% gain in 1Q 2012. On year-over-year basis, index climbed at 4.6% rate. During 2Q, manufacturing sector showed annualized gain of 1.4%.
