Publications include NIST SP-1134–Extended Feature Set Profile Specification, NIST SP-1151–Markup Instructions for Extended Friction Ridge Features, and NIST SP-1152–Latent Interoperability Transmission Specification.

NCAA Ruling on Pole Vault Collars cites ASTM Standard.

March 20, 2013 ASTM International standard F2949, Specification for Pole Vault Box Collars, has been cited in ruling promulgated by National Collegiate Athletic Association to make pole vaulting safer. Approved by NCAA's Playing Rules Oversight Panel, rule is student athlete safety proposal which calls for padding around pole vault boxes that meets requirements of ASTM F2949. Padding is to be installed by December 1 wherever NCAA competition takes place.

March 20, 2013 AAMA 2410-13, Standard Practice for Installation of Windows with an Exterior Flush Fin Over an Existing Window Frame covers installation of retrofit windows in detached 1- and 2-family dwellings and townhouses not more than 3 stories above-grade in height. Standard includes updated definition of residential dwellings as defined in AAMA 2400-10 and current building codes. Details were also added for proper shimming and sealing of replacement window to existing window frame.
EPA announces membership of Great Lakes Advisory Board.

March 20, 2013 U.S. EPA announced, on behalf of 16 federal agencies, the membership of the first advisory board to support implementation of Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. Board will provide advice and recommendations to EPA Administrator, who serves as chair of federal Interagency Task Force. EPA considered candidates from broad range of interests including business, agriculture, foundations, environmental justice groups, youth organizations, academia, and state, local and tribal representatives.

New ASTM Subcommittee focuses on organic waste discharge.

March 20, 2013 Subcommittee D34.02 has been formed to develop proposed standards to analyze organic compounds discharged into sanitary sewers. Proposed standards developed by this subcommittee will deal with organic compounds that cause damage to treatment plants and whether such compounds will harm aquatic species or animals that feed on aquatic species. End results will help producers plan and develop products for those concerned with certain organic compounds in recycled waste products.

Proposals have been offered to allow Department of Health and Human Services to intervene in price negotiations. According to NAM VP of Human Resources Policy Joe Trauger, it makes no sense to allow government interference in one of the only federal programs that comes in under budget every year.

March 19, 2013 ISPE announced that the deadline is approaching for pharmaceutical professionals and companies to participate in Society’s global survey on drug shortages. ISPE launched Drug Shortage Initiative in support of the pharmaceutical industry and global health authorities’ efforts to understand and address the complex and critical issue of drug shortages. Survey is designed to collect data on technical, scientific, manufacturing, quality, and compliance issues that may have resulted in drug shortages.
