Designed for portable devices, mobile phones, laptop and desktop LCDs, keypads, and keyboards, Microlens(TM) Light Guides feature MicroLens(TM) light extraction technology, which reduces number of LEDs required. They provide bright, uniform light in thin form factor with no hot spots or dark areas. Light is extracted precisely where needed, such as around thru-holes for keypads, and devices can backlight LCD displays in sizes from 0.25-50 in. diagonal.

LED Light Guides feature IP68 sealed design.

Available in various diameters, lengths, and colors, LED Light Guides are offered in protruding styles or versions that are mounted flush with front panel. Chamfered light coupling area allows other LEDs to emit light perpendicular to circuit board. IP68 sealing is accomplished through special shaping of light guide body accompanied with precision boring by customer. Light guide lengths are available up to 100 mm on request.

Light Guides backlight LCDs in portable devices.

Color cell-phone backlight assembly provides luminance of >3000 cd/m² for 1.5 in. diagonal screen, utilizing only 2 white LEDs at 15 mA. PDA backlight assembly utilizes 4 white LEDs and provides brightness of >2000 cd/m² to 2.5 in. diagonal screen. MicroLens(TM) technology allows LEDs to be molded directly into light guide. CCFL light guide utilizes L-shaped CCFL to provide luminance of 6500-7000 cd/m² for 7 in. diagonal screen, with full VGA color. Bulb current is only 6 mA.

Luxaura(TM) Light Guide is an acrylic rod that creates solid-state light source when attached to LEDs that provide light and color. It does not have any gas, glass, or filament. Co-extruded 3-part structure is composed of outer clad, acrylic polymer core, and reflector strip that radiates light from guide. Clear, UV-resistant solid-core rod can be easily shaped, once heated, to fit many designs. Luxaura(TM) comes in 6.5, 10, and 14 mm dia and lengths up to 6 ft.

This story is related to the following:
<a href='http://news.thomasnet.com/news/optics-photonics' target='_blank''>Optics and Photonics Sponsored by: Keyence Corporation of America - The Source for Digital Microscopy Solutions
<a href='http://news.thomasnet.com/news/vision-systems' target='_blank''>Vision Systems Sponsored by: Keyence Corporation of America - The Internet Resource for Machine Vision Solutions

Search for suppliers of: <a href='http://www.thomasnet.com/products/light-guides-36414258-1.html' target='_blank''>Light Guides
