Digital Optocouplers suit optical isolation applications.

ACPL-M61L/061L/064L/W61L/K64L optocouplers operate in -40 to +105°C tempertures from 2.7-5.5 V supply. Combining LED and integrated high gain photo detector, 10 Mbd devices have forward drive current at 1.6 mA, allowing designers to interface optocoupler input directly from microcontroller output - eliminating use of buffers to drive LED. Slew-rate controlled output controls voltage rise and fall times over wide range of load capacitances.

Optical Isolators come in high-power, 30 and 50 W versions.

Isolators rated for up to 30 W are offered with Large Mode Area (LMA) Single Mode (SM) fiber pigtail on one side and collimated free-space beam on other. Alternatively, 50 W design is available as free-space version. Both versions are suited for use in fiber lasers, amplifiers, and CATV systems. Further isolators, fiber coupled and free-space, are available for lower powers and wavelengths from 488-1,600 nm.

Data Converters feature protective optical isolation.

Available for RS-232 and RS-422/485 data circuits, I-linx stand-alone optical isolators in industrial DIN rail mount cases offer 2,000 V protection. Converters change RS-232 format data signals to RS-422 for increased range, or RS-485 for increased range and multi-drop capability. Model FOSTCDRI converts RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 to transmit over fiber optic cable, which allows range up to 2.5 miles.

Faraday Optical Isolator allows propagation of linearly polarized light in one direction, but blocks light in reverse direction. It consists of Faraday rotator, 2 polarizers, and housing body. Rotator's magneto-optical rod is cut from glass with parallelism better than 10 arc-sec. Isolator is offered with reverse isolation of 38 dB or 60 dB and is factory aligned for central wavelength of 800 nm. Changing position of rod allows tuning over wavelength range from 765-835 nm.

This story is related to the following:
<a href='http://news.thomasnet.com/news/communication-systems-equipment' target='_blank''>Communication Systems and Equipment
<a href='http://news.thomasnet.com/news/optics-photonics' target='_blank''>Optics and Photonics

Search for suppliers of: <a href='http://www.thomasnet.com/products/optical-isolators-41373358-1.html' target='_blank''>Optical Isolators
