Mounted to rigid stand, instrument includes torsion head with dial protractor that is turned in plane normal to device's fixed torsion wire, until specimen is twisted 90°. Torsion values are obtained by measuring applied angular twist required to reorient sample 90° or other specified setting. Unit is based on apparatus described in test method ASTM D2821.
