Using CCD camera, system produces images of each particle and provide scattergram of shape index versus particle size within 2.5 min. Camera captures 60 images/sec and analyzes them in real-time. To ensure largest area of particle is oriented toward camera and all particles are in focus, sheath flow cell transforms particle suspension into narrow or flat flow.

System shakes and taps samples with same stroke and frequency as manual shakers. It classifies and weighs each sieve fraction, calculates and stores weight values, and reports data in format compatible with Windows-based QC/SPC software.
