Apr 27, 2006 HiE-Coat(TM) 840-C helps improve thermal efficiency of ceramic and refractory insulated combustion and exhaust pipes as well as oven and furnace walls to 2,500°F. Demonstrating emissivity greater than 0.90, this jet-black, water-based ceramic coating will absorb and re-radiate IR energy. Odorless, non-outgassing product contains no VOCs and features volume resistivity of 109 ohm-cm and dielectric strength of 225 V/mil at room temperature. Curing is accomplished by air-drying at room temperature for 1-2 hr then step curing for 1 or 2 hr at 200°F and 350°F, respectively.

Material helps prevent wear and oxidation of refractory components and increases heat reflectivity. Resistant to wetting by most molten metals, product has solids content of 76.8% by weight, 66.0% by volume, and viscosity range of 5,000–6,000 cps. Water-based formulation has no VOCs and dries within 2 hr at 200°F.
