Current in one direction will set chopper to open position, while current in other direction will set chopper to close position. In internal mode, CH-62 is used as variable low frequency chopper with frequency set by internal oscillator adjustable from 1–25 Hz. In external mode, CH-62 is used as chopper or shutter and is controlled by external TTL signal input up to 25 Hz.
