Model WEU-02 is wavelength extension unit designed to expand capability of femtosecond lasers. Enabling user to maintain fundamental beam for 2-photon imaging, unit's thumbwheel also allows selective splitting of beam to add pump-probe and multimodal capability. Thumbwheels are also used to independently control attenuation of beam, input to photonic crystal fiber, and output Stokes beams. Mode Converter Fiber Coupler (MCFC) takes Gaussian profile single-mode fiber input from fiber laser and couples it into Luminator(TM) fiber. Focused spot sizes in range of 60-1,500 µm can be selected by use of appropriate Luminator process tools. Product has detachable output fiber and suits welding applications where profile and small spot size of Gaussian beam are not optimal, such as butt welding parts with fit-up tolerances larger than Gaussian spot size or thin foil welding.
