Producing 1.426 MW, Jenbacher J420 GS Gas Engine features Miller timing combustion system, spark plugs rated for up to 15,000 hr, and swirl-optimized, 4-valve cylinder head rated for 30,000 hr. Thermal output is 5,700 MTBU/hr when fueled by natural gas and 5,400 MBTU/hr with biogas. Engine provides electrical efficiency of 40.8% and total efficiency up to 86.6%.

Twin Vortices Series (TVS(TM)) Roots-type supercharger allows automakers to use smaller compressors to create optimal engine boost. In addition to scalable design, unit features 4-lobe rotors as well as high-flow inlet and outlet ports that promote thermal efficiency, which translates to increased volumetric capacity at higher RPMs.

J412 GS and J416 GS Jenbacher Type 4 gas engines are available at 50 Hz/1,500 rpm and 60 Hz/1,200 rpm. J412's electrical and thermal outputs are 845 kW and 897 kW, while J416's outputs are 1,127 kW and 1,195 kW. Electrical efficiency is 42.7% for the J412 and 42.8% for the J416, with minimum methane number of 85. Engines feature TecJet(TM) gas-dosing valve for control accuracy and combustion system that provides mechanical efficiency and fuel flexibility.
