ASHRAE Report provides roadmap for energy policy.

As federal government prepares for presidential transition, ASHRAE report provides roadmap for addressing nation's dependence on foreign energy sources and greenhouse gas emissions while growing the economy. Report recommends requiring annual measurements of building energy use, and providing funding and direction for data collection and analysis regarding energy use in buildings. AAMA proposes revisions to ENERGY STAR® requirements.

The AAMA feedback, in relation to fenestration products, included comments from John Lewes, who encouraged collaboration with the DOE and tailoring of the program to the consumer. Based on this, the AAMA and WDMA submitted a letter to the DOE detailing the need for a simpler program, with inefficiencies of existing products and affordability being addressed. In a separate letter, the AAMA proposed various other supplemental recommendations. The AAMA Skylight Council also submitted comments. Read More

Senators support review of Renewable Fuel Standard Rule.

According to BIO, U.S. EPA should implement new rules for Renewable Fuel Standard in timely matter that is consistent with goals of achieving energy security and addressing climate change priorities. BIO thanked Senators who sent letter to EPA Administrator urging agency to publish and seek comment on methodology it is using to estimate life cycle greenhouse gas emissions of biofuels, particularly those attributed to indirect land use change, as called for in Renewable Fuel Standard.
