May 17, 2002 Bi-directional Wavelength Division Multiplexer (BWDM) uses 2 separate wavelengths to carry 2 distinct channels up to 20 km distance. Either 1310 or 1550 nm wavelength is used to transmit, while other wavelength is used to receive, eliminating need to install second fiber and doubling capacity of existing cable. It is suitable for MAN and LAN applications.
