Survey Reveals Engineers among Most Satisfied in Jobs, Top Occupations in Industry
August 15, 2013
Engineers are the most satisfied with all aspects of their jobs when compared to other job seekers, but less than half (37 percent) say that their employers are willing to offer the training needed to support their jobs, according to a new survey released by Monster.com. The findings also show a major disparity between employer perceptions and job-seeker expectations for hiring trends. While just 11 percent of engineers said that they are "extremely" confident that they could find a job in the next year, employers recruiting engineering talent indicate otherwise, with 73 percent reporting that they are "likely" to hire this year. The Monster.com Workforce Talent Survey Both surveys, however, highlight a prominent issue: there is a major shortage in engineering talent. Just 39 percent of the employers that took the Monster survey said that they were confident in staffing all their engineering job positions. The Monster.com survey also highlights the top markets for employment, with Houston, New York, San Diego, and Austin, Texas, in the top five.
