New Digital Learning Resource Gives Industry, Educators a 'Knowledge Edge'

May 22, 2013

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has released Knowledge Edge, a new online resource featuring in-depth educational manufacturing content. The subscription service has information available in multimedia formats, including e-books, technical papers, videos, and thousands of entries in an industry-validated manufacturing knowledge database.

Knowledge Edge, part of Tooling U-SME, is a resource for educational institutions, including colleges and high schools, and manufacturing industries ranging from aerospace and defense, automotive and transportation, to contract manufacturing, among others. The content is continuously updated and "peer-reviewed by subject experts." The multimedia format caters to different learning styles, and those who use the service can educate themselves with both text information and videos.

"While web searches yield a wealth of information, there is little standard as to what's posted and what can be trusted," according to SME director of professional development Jeannine Kunz in a statement. "Knowledge Edge relies on SME members, longstanding industry professionals, and SME's trusted manufacturer customer base to provide a reliable source of manufacturing information online."

IMT Career Journal was invited to an exclusive Knowledge Edge demo, so check back for additional coverage soon.
