Green Oxymorons
Being green, of course, is both unbearably chic and increasingly popular among Americans. An annual study on Green Brands has consistently found that fully 75 percent of Americans think that it’s “somewhat” or “very” important for them to buy from green companies. This is all corporate marketing departments needed to hear, and many companies are suddenly finding a “green” angle on every product they market, even on products as improbable as headsets and trans-fat-laden snacks. NREL and Verizon Partner to Innovate Energy-Saving Information and Communication Technologies
In a first-of-its-kind agreement between an information and communications technology (ICT) company and a DOE lab, NREL and Verizon have signed a memorandum of understanding that will hopefully lead to the development of new ways to reduce energy use in the ICT industry, which is one of the most energy-intensive industries when measured on a square foot basis, consuming 3 percent of U.S. electricity.
