LED Technology Hits the Consumer Market
Home Depot has announced that it will begin selling a 40 Watt (W) replacement LED light bulb for $19.97, a price that is less than half of what was projected as consumer pricing for these types of bulbs. It is being offered under their EcoSmart name and the 429-lumen light bulb has a 50,000 hour expected lifetime. By comparison, two years ago, a 60W equivalent cost $90 and a 100W dimmable bulb went for $360. The bulbs will be in all U.S. The Home Depot stores by the end of September.
