Bottle and Can Recycling Program Adds up to More than Just Nickels
Recycling: we all know what we should do and we all know what we do do. It is just so much easier to toss that soda bottle or can in the trash than it is to bring it home and then bring it to a recycling center. We are willing to toss all those nickels in the trash instead of making the effort to recycle. PepsiCo to the rescue! In partnering with Waste Management, Inc., PepsiCo has begun a nationwide recycling initiative to make it more convenient and rewarding for people to recycle. The “Dream Machines” kiosks are reverse vending machines designed for public venues that offer consumers a personal reward system and are provided by GreenOps, LLC, a subsidiary of Waste Management. PepsiCo is looking to increase beverage container recycling from 34% to 50% by 2018. In addition to removing those beverage containers from landfills, the program will also fund the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), a national program offering free, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 veterans with disabilities.
