SCS Introduces WSMONITOR2 Plus Workstation Monitor
SCS has introduced a new single workstation continuous monitor. The SCS 770075 WSMONITOR2 Plus Workstation Monitor eliminates the need for periodic testing and uses a solid-state capacitance design to continuously test the ground integrity of two operators and one worksurface. The monitor will issue both audible and visual alarms should the wrist straps or worksurface fail. It is cost effective and designed to monitor any conventional single-wire wrist strap system. Its mounting tabs make it highly suitable to install underneath table tops and save work space. The monitor features a switch to disable the mat monitor circuit when not in-use. The shielded enclosure prevents false pass conditions caused by noise emitted from fluorescent lighting.
The WSMONITOR2 Plus Workstation Monitor meets the Continuous Monitor requirements of ANSI/ESD S20.20 in accordance with ESD TR1.0-01 and ANSI/ESD STM3.1. It meets the recommendations of ESD Handbook ESD TR20.20 which includes “if the products that are being produced are of such value that knowledge of a continuous, reliable ground is needed, and then continuous monitoring should be considered or even required”. The WSMONITOR2 Plus Workstation Monitor includes a 100-240VAC power adapter with interchangeable plugs that works with standard electrical systems in North America, United Kingdom, Japan, Asia and Europe.
Each WSMONITOR2 Plus Workstation Monitor is calibrated with accepted procedures and standards traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and includes a certificate of calibration. Standards published by the ESD Association recommend frequent testing of operator grounding devices such as wrist straps and footwear to ensure proper electrical resistance.
