ASG Medical Systems Unveils New Automated Machine to Cut and Deburr Nitinol and Stainless Steel Guidewire

US medical device automation company announces the Automated Cut and Deburr (ACD-5M).

West Palm Beach, FL - ASG Medical Systems, dedicated to catheter and guidewire manufacturing automation, is proud to introduce the new Automated Cut and Deburr (ACD-5M), able to precisely cut and deburr Nitinol and stainless steel wire. This fully automated machine turns spooled or rough cut wire into stacks of perfectly cut-to-length and deburred guidewire blanks, ready for centerless grinding. The result is the ultimate finished quality after centerless grinding.

The machine handles wires up to 5 meters in length and is fully programmable with recipe storage. Grinding media is CBN for long life. The process is clean and dry, capturing fine grinding particulate in easily cleaned filters. Changeover is simple and fast. The machine has hinged, interlocked, clear guarding for safety and easy maintenance. The machine's color touchscreen, stainless steel bins and white powdercoat finish provide a clean, modern look to the medical device manufacturing area.

ASG Director of Technology Dan Woodward said about the new system, "Deburring and precision cutting provides clean, smooth ends on both ends of these nitinol wires, plus extremely precise length control. This adds up to precise tip tracking and smoother processing in the grinding process, for improved grind quality and precision. And the system is fast and fully automatic. It's a great new technology for the guidewire grinding industry."

Features:
  • Wire lengths range from 35.5cm to 5m.
  • Feeds from sticks or spools
  • Precision cut-to-length
  • High speed grinding/deburring for smooth tip finish
  • Diameters from 0.2.mm to 1mm (.009 to .04 inches)
