Economical Oil and Grease Resistant Coating for Food Packaging
Aqua Based Technologies has introduced Aqualene® 5050, a new coating that is economical, water-based and repulpable with high oil and grease resistance (OGR) for the paper converting, food packaging and food service industries. It is specifically designed for many paper and paperboard food packaging and handling applications requiring oil and grease resistance, including food wrappers, especially for the fast-food industry, paper and paperboard packaging, paper plates and cups.
Aqualene® 5050 is environmentally friendly and complies with FDA requirements for direct food contact packaging (FDA 21 CFR 176.170 and 176.180).
Due to its high OGR barrier properties, Aqualene® 5050 requires application of only 2.0 grams/m2 to obtain a high OGR results (8-10 test kit), making it an economical replacement for conventional OGR coatings that require much higher application levels.
In addition, Aqualene® 5050 is VOC free and dries clear. It is a high-performance product which can be applied by conventional coating apparatus - gravure, flexo, rod, etc. It is used as supplied and is available in pails, drums and totes.
