Wafers feature diamond on silicon construction.

Press Release Summary:

Advanced Diamond Technologies (ADT) DoSi(TM) (diamond on silicon) electronics-grade wafers are coated with Ultrananocrystalline Diamond(TM) (UNCD(TM)) material, which exhibits all properties of natural diamond but with mirror-smooth surface that allows for control of surface properties. Suited for research and product design, wafers available in 100, 150, and 200 mm standard sizes and can be produced in other sizes as required.

Goodfellow Offers ADT Diamond on Silicon Wafers

Devon, PA ... July 19, 2006 ... Goodfellow has announced the addition of diamond on silicon electronics-grade wafers to its extensive line of metals and materials for research and product design. The wafers, manufactured by Advanced Diamond Technologies (ADT) and coated with ADT's unique Ultrananocrystalline Diamond(TM) (UNCD(TM)), are available from Goodfellow in small quantities.

UNCD is a family of diamond materials that have the hardness and other extreme properties of natural diamond, but with a mirror smooth surface that allows for outstanding control of surface properties. The mechanical and electrical properties of UNCD films can be tailored to suit specific applications. UNCD is the only phase-pure nanocrystalline diamond film in the world.

ADT's DoSi(TM) (diamond on silicon) wafers are available in 100, 150, and 200 mm standard sizes, although other sizes can be produced as required. Applications include the manufacture of MEMS devices made of diamond, as x-ray windows, as platforms for biosensors, as wear-resistant and non-stick coatings, and as cold cathode electron sources for display applications.

About Goodfellow

For almost 40 years, Goodfellow (www.goodfellow.com) has been a supplier of small quantities (a few grams to a few kilos) of metals, polymers, ceramics and other materials to meet the research, development, and specialized production requirements of science and industry worldwide. In addition to operations in the US, UK, France, and Germany, the company recently opened a representative office in Shanghai (www.gutefu.com.cn) to meet the demands of China's rapidly growing research market. Goodfellow's online catalog contains approximately 60,000 items, as well as technical information including physical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties, as appropriate, and comparative data tables.

About Advanced Diamond Technologies, Inc. (ADT)

ADT is the world leader in exploiting the properties of diamond films for medical, electronic and industrial applications. ADT's patented diamond, known as Ultrananocrystalline Diamond (UNCD), is prized for its exceptionally small (5 nanometer) grain sizes, which are a billion-fold smaller in volume than those in traditional diamond films. It is the exceptionally small grain size, mirror smoothness and low temperature deposition that make UNCD distinct from other diamond thin-films. ADT recently received a prestigious Nano 50(TM) award for UNCD from Nanotech Briefs magazine, which recognized the top 50 technologies, products, and innovators "that have significantly impacted, or are expected to impact, the state of the art in nanotechnology."
