Original Press Release:

New Hirschmann VIP System Transmits/Receives Live Video And Audio Via TCP/IP

Pine Brook, NJ, November 2001 - The new VIP video over TCP/IP system designed for vision systems, monitoring and remote maintenance, process visualization, access control and security applications has been introduced by Hirschmann Electronics
Automation and Network Solutions (ANS), a leading supplier of components and systems for industrial networking and interconnect solutions for factory and industrial automation.

The VIP system is comprised of the VIP-V TxC video and VIP-AV TxC video/audio transmitters, which connect any PAL/NTSC video source to the data network. The transmitters offer multicast capability, allowing several viewers to view live images via a
single TCP/IP network.

The VIP-V RxC video and VIP-AV RxC video/audio receivers reproduce the signal in any PAL or NTSC monitor at any point in the network. Images may be viewed on a standard PC, either with an Internet browser or using the included VIP-SW1 decoder software. The available VIP-SW4 software allows simultaneous display of up to four sources, from different networks, relying only on a PC's graphics and/or sound card for display. Optional network controls include password entry, user and administrator rights.

The system operates with a high data compression rate in accordance with ITU T-Standard H.323 to ensure optimal color and clarity, with a resolution of 352 x 288 at a maximum frequency of 30 frames per second. Transmitters and receivers are housed in a tough metal housing that will fit into most cable ducts.

Additional features for monitoring and security/surveillance are an integrated motion detector and a video loop detector, which, upon alarm activation, saves the previous five minutes of signal. Camera functions such as zoom, pan and tilt may be controlled through the system's bi-directional interface.

Pricing for a VIP system starts at $1495 per unit. Delivery is from stock.
