Productivity for Five- New Vertical Machining Center Provides Top Precision and Axis Milling

Wood Dale, IL - MC Machinery Systems, Inc. introduces the new Roku-Roku RMX-5, the newest high-speed, high-precision vertical machining center. The RMX-5 delivers the highest precision and productivity for five-axis milling.

The new machine construction is built to jig-borer standards of quality and accuracy. It features bridge construction with Meehanite GC for both the base and bridge casting material. This material provides excellent shock and vibration dampening as well as minimal thermal distortion in normal working environments.

The RMX-5 employs oil mist angular contact ceramic bearing technology. This special, long-life spindle design uses two 45 mm bearings at the bottom and two 35 mm bearings at the top of the motor. A surrounding jacket of oil stabilizes the spindle temperature. This oil is then circulated through an Oil Temperature Controller (chiller) that maintains a ±1.0°F operating window. This minimizes Y/Z-Axis thermal deformation commonly caused by high RPM and extended run times.

The machine is equipped with two pneumatic counter-balancers located on both sides of the spindle headstock. They provide smooth and accurate movement during high velocity contouring and drilling. The use of counter balancers also reduces Z-Axis motor and ball screw loads resulting in less heat generation. By minimizing heat generation, thermal distortion can be controlled.

The RMX-5 upholds Roku-Roku's reputation for speed with its 200-32,000 RPM integral motor spindle equipped with HSK-E40 tooling and industry-leading Fanuc 31i-A5 series control. The control's Super PCIII function optimizes velocity and acceleration and deceleration through the use of a super high-speed processor and AI Contour Control II. The combination of high-speed calculation, read-ahead control and nano smoothing minimizes geometric errors during high-speed contouring of continuous small motion commands.

RMX-5 also features Fanuc's Digital Intelligent Servo System with five-place decimal input and feedback. This combination results in unsurpassed speed and accuracy, even in the most complex, three-dimensional contours consisting of short consecutive line segments or arcs.
