New Class of Spring-Loaded Devices Developed for Use in Machinery, Fixtures and Industrial Equipment

Milwaukee, WI - November 30, 2001 - DBM Innovation Inc. has developed the DBM Universal Spring Cylinder - a new class of spring-loaded devices. These multifunctional devices handle industrial applications currently requiring a large assortment of spring stops and larger plungers, thereby reducing the need to
stock a large assortment of spring stop and plunger styles. The DBM Universal Spring Cylinder reduces expensive custom design costs by handling a wide variety of applications that existing spring-loaded devices can't.

The plunger has a tapped hole and pilot bore on the compression end and a threaded extension on the tension end. It is easy to add standard or custom attachments and create a device that fills a variety of needs-in compression or tension. The hardened steel plunger (45-50 Rc) can also be used directly without
attachments (as in indexing applications).

The inaccuracies inherent with thread runout are avoided because the cylinder body has an accurate outside diameter instead of the threads found on many conventional devices. The DBM Universal Spring Cylinder is made with precision tolerances in order to handle indexing and locating tasks as well as standard
spring stop applications. The hardened plunger extends completely through the body, providing a large bearing surface for offset loads.

An optional split-block mounting clamp is available. It includes dowel pin holes to maintain accurate location. Flats are provided along the length of the body for set screw mounting in low force applications. Standard shaft collars can also be used
to mount the DBM Universal Spring Cylinder.

An optional retracting lock is also available. Completely retracting the plunger and rotating it 90 degrees will hold the plunger in position. The removable retracting lock is designed to attach to the spring plunger's threaded extension.

When partially or fully extended, the retract lock can also aid in preventing rotation of the plunger by keying to the flats of the cylinder body.

Four cylinder sizes are available in two spring forces. Additional sizes, materials and attachments are currently under development. Special designs and spring forces can be supplied as well. Call or send specifications for a prompt quotation.

A patent is pending on the DBM Universal Spring Cylinder. DBM Innovation Inc. is a privately owned corporation established in Wisconsin in 1996. For more information visit: www.dbminnovation.com or call 262-246-8075.
