U004E Fail-Safe & Explosion-Proof Ultrasonic Sensor
NAUGATUCK, CONNECTICUT — In the Oil and Gas Industry, oil fields span miles of remote regions. While field technicians monitor these areas periodically, power loss to important level sensing devices can easily go unnoticed. The U004E Ultrasonic Gap Switch is designed to anticipate such failures. It is equipped with a fail-safe circuit that engages when input power drops under 3 VDC.
The switch is customized to the customer’s desired output in either normally-open or normally-closed states. When the power supply drops, the U004E can open a valve, turn on a pump or send an alarm to alert technicians. While normal instruments can shut off in whatever state they are in during power loss, a fail-safe equipped device can anticipate one of the most common downfalls to a technological world.
Once power is restored to over 12 VDC, the U004E returns to normal operation. The fail-safe circuit serves as an extra mode of protection in applications where the occurrence of power outages can create hazardous spills, fires and other unforeseen industrial disasters.
