Littelfuse Expands TVS Diode Product Line
New higher power and lower capacitance products increase range of options for protecting communications circuits

DES PLAINES, Illinois, November 1, 2007 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS) today announced an expansion of its transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode line. With this product line expansion, Littelfuse can now supply surface-mount TVS diodes in power ratings from 400W to 5,000W, and axial leaded TVS diodes with ratings from 400W to 30,000W (30kW). This product line expansion includes the NEW SACB series, the first surface mount low-capacitance TVS diode available to the market.
The seven new products were designed to reduce transmission loss on signal lines and increase circuit protection by absorbing more transient current. When used on signal lines, the new low-capacitance (less than 50pf) TVS diodes help to reduce transmission loss in modem, ADSL, and similar functions. Higher power TVS diodes absorb more transient current to protect the circuit, which is useful for low noise block (LNB) circuit protection and industrial power line protection.
Littelfuse TVS Diodes feature fast response times, typically less than 1.0ps from 0V to the minimum breakdown voltage. They are designed to provide precision clamping capability and low incremental surge resistance to protect sensitive components while limiting transmission loss. Both unidirectional and bidirectional polarities are available and reverse standoff voltages range from 5 to 495V. All Littelfuse TVS Diodes are also RoHS compliant, being plated with lead-free tin and the plastic package meets the flammability requirements of UL 94V-0.
About TVS Diodes
Littelfuse TVS Diodes are circuit protection devices designed to protect I/O interfaces, Vcc bus and other vulnerable circuits in telecommunications equipment, computers, industrial equipment and consumer electronics from high voltage transients induced by lightning, inductive load switching and electrostatic discharge (ESD). Their p-n junctions have much larger cross-sectional areas than those of normal diodes, allowing them to conduct large currents to ground without sustaining damage.
