Avanex Extends PowerReach(TM) Tunable Transponder Product Line Into the L-Band



FREMONT, Calif., March 14 / -- Avanex Corporation (NASDAQ:AVNX) a pioneer of intelligent photonic solutions that enable next-generation optical networks, today announced a full L-band version of its PowerReach(TM) tunable transponder. This new product extends the flexibility of dynamically tunable transmitters across the entire DWDM band. The PowerReach(TM) transponder also offers excellent optical-signal-to-noise-ratio (OSNR) performance.

The PowerReach(TM) transponder provides wavelength tunability from 1570 nm to 1607 nm with a +/-25pm accuracy and features a chromatic dispersion window of 2000 ps/nm, well beyond the industry standard of 1600 ps/nm specified in ITU-T G691, ITU-T G.709, Telcordia GR253 and OIF SFI4-01.0. The increased dispersion performance permits much longer reach signal transmissions.

The PowerReach(TM) tunable transponder has a power output from +1 to + 6dBm, accepts multi-bit rate from 9.995 to 11.3Gb/s and it offers the flexibility of zero or selectable chirp LiNbO3 modulators and multiple L-band tunable laser options. This latest product enhancement enables rapid adoption by customers, as it only requires a small incremental qualification effort beyond the work already completed for the current C-band module.
