New TPE Grades from Elastocon Great for Caps, Closures, Wine Corks, Grips



ROCHESTER, IL - Two new thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) grades from Elastocon TPE Technologies promise to stand apart from other materials currently available for caps, closures, wine corks and grips for packaging containers, among numerous applications.

The new Elastocon 2850PE and 2865PE grades of TPEs not only have a Shore A hardness of 50 and 65, respectively, but they are also FDA compliant, odorless and translucent. They have been formulated for extruding as well as overmolding and coextruding onto PE (polyethylene).

This new formulations are special additions to the firm's 2800 Series of TPEs for applications that require rubber-like properties, colorability and a good surface finish. These new TPE grades are ideally suited for medical, consumer and even outdoor industrial applications that require UV stability and need to be easily processed. Six other grades are also available in the series, ranging in Shore A hardness from 10 to 80.

The new 2850PE and 2865PE grades are available as pellets in 1,000 pound quantities.

Additionally, Elastocon offers custom formulations in addition to an 8000 Series of TPEs which offer excellent surface finish, the SMR Series of TPOs, the STK Series for overmolding, and alloys, all of which can be injection molded, extruded, blow molded or compounded, a CLR clear series and an OF plasticizer-free series of TPEs. Many grades are highly suitable for overmolding. Elastocon thermoplastic elastomers do not require drying and are offered for applications that require rubber-like properties, impact resistance, colorability, a good surface finish, easy processability, reduced material usage and offer numerous other features and benefits. All Elastocon grades are free from latex, and are RoHS and California Proposition 65 compliant, with many of the company offerings being FDA compliant, as well as UL and NSF approvable, and are suitable for medical applications.
