Thermoplastic Hose offers abrasion resistance.

Press Release Summary:

Designed to withstand harsh environments, both internally and externally, Model 518D combines core material that resists permeation of hydraulic fluids with outer jacket that provides abrasion resistance. Non-conductive hose is available in sizes ranging from 3/16–¾ in. ID and can be supplied as bonded or multi-line assembly to further reduce jacket wear.

Lab Studies Confirm, up to 5x More Abrasion Resistance with Parker 518D Hose

Ravenna, OH  – Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has developed 518D non-conductive thermoplastic hose to withstand the harshest environments, both internally and externally.   In response to customer demand, the Parflex division created the 518D hose with a new core material that is more resistant to permeation and an outer jacket that has greater abrasion resistance than many other products on the market today.

Many end users are using hydraulic fluids with aggressive additives that move through the hose over time (permeation).  The core material in 518D is highly resistive to the permeation of these fluids.  In addition, Parflex gave the 518D-4 a special reinforcement package to reduce the reinforcement diameter, allowing for an increase in the thickness of the special PFX cover.  In lab studies, this improvement has shown to provide as much as 5x more abrasion resistance than the current thermoplastic hoses used in this application. This has significantly reduced hose change outs in applications for the aerial lift market.

Non-conductive 518D hose will be available in sizes 3/16” thru 3/4” I.D.  and can be supplied as a bonded or multi-line assembly to further reduce jacket wear. Visit us at ICUEE October 1 – 3 in Louisville, Kentucky, booth 2248.
