Elastocon TPE Technologies Expands Line of TPES for Over molding and Co-Extruding onto Polyethylene

ROCHESTER, IL – Elastocon TPE Technologies, Inc. has recently expanded its 2800 Series of performance TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers) to now include 5 new grades for overmolding and coextruding onto polyethylene.  Elastocon is a fast-growing major U.S. TPE manufacturer which offers 5 lines of standard TPEs plus a full range of custom formulations.

The new grades, now offered in Shore A hardness ranges of 25, 40, 50 and 65, are specifically formulated for overmolding or coextruding onto polyethylene.  Previous grades, still available, are suitable for overmolding only onto polypropylene and are available in Shore A hardness ranges from 10 to 90.   All grades can be supplied for compounding or as ready-to-use pellets in 1,000 lb. quantities.

Potential applications might include, but are not limited to, mouthguards, clear straps, medical products and pet toys, among many others.  Additional applications cited by Elastocon include ovemolding for cap liners and grips for various polyethelene consumer packaging.

Noted for their ultra-soft, rubber-like feel and ability to be injection molded, extruded, blow molded or compounded, these grades, old and new, provide a good surface finish to molded products and have high impact resistance.  Natural grades are FDA compliant, and all grades are UV stable.  They exhibit excellent cold weather resistance plus are resistant to chlorine and most household cleaning products, among other chemicals and oils.  They are RoHS and California Proposition 65 compliant.

Elastocon® offers high performance TPE solutions that are innovative and robust, designed to meet the toughest requirements of modern TPE designs.  They are offered in seven product families: unfilled, filled, super clear, TPOs, oil free for medical use, flame retardant and special colorable ESD formulations.
