SATO America Announces the M-84Pro Series Printers

A new generation of high-resolution printers

CHARLOTTE, NC - September 12, 2002 - SATO America, Inc., a leader in barcode printing since introducing the first thermal transfer barcode printer in 1979, today announced the new M-84Pro Series direct thermal/thermal transfer printers. The M-84Pro Series are a new generation of high-resolution printers that print images with a resolution of up to 609 dots per inch (dpi) and a print speed of up to 12 inches per second. The user easily accomplishes changes in print resolution from 203 dpi to 305 dpi or 609 dpi by simply installing the appropriate print head.

SATO's new Windows® compatible M-84Pro Series with the 32-Bit
high-speed RISC/133 Mhz processor for maximum throughput, can print large amounts of barcode, text and fine detailed graphics with clear and precise print in addition to smaller size 2-D codes such as Micro PDF417 or Micro QR, even when printing directly from standard Windows applications. Now, the ability to easily and efficiently produce labels direct from Windows applications such as WORD, EXCEL and ACCESS are an option.

With a full 18 MB of standard, on-board memory, these printers provide enough memory, for most applications, to store multiple fonts and graphics without the need for optional memory. For extreme memory requirement applications, an optional 4 MB of Flash memory or an additional 16 MB of PCMCIA memory is available.

Additional standard features include 203 dpi or 305 dpi print
resolution, serial (RS232), parallel (IEEE 1284) and USB plug-in
interface modules, 21 barcode symbologies including 2-D and human readable fonts including downloaded TrueType® fonts (scalable from 8 to 72 points).

Optional interface modules include wireless (802.11b) and Ethernet (10/100Base T) and both include WPC Plus (Web-based Printer Control PLUS), SATO's new tool for controlling SATO thermal transfer barcode printers via any web-enabled wired or wireless device.

The new M-84Pro Series printers from SATO America are fast, versatile, dependable and cost effective for today's demanding labeling applications.
