IBM 7212 Model 312 Delivers VXA-2 Autoloader Tape Drive for IBM eServer pSeries Servers

Overview

The IBM 7212 Model 312 1U VXA-2 Autoloader supports unattended data storage, archiving backup, and retrieval for PC work groups in multiserver networks. It can be used with most models of the IBM pSeries® and RS/6000® families of servers.

The 7212 Model 312, a VXA-2 packet tape drive, is designed to achieve a physical data transfer rate of up to 12 MB per second (assuming 2:1 compression ratio) and can store up to 160 GB of compressed data. The VXA-2 Autoloader tape drive can store up to 10 data cartridges on a rotating carousel, for a total physical storage capacity of up to 1.6 terabytes (TB) (with 2:1 compression), that automatically positions the cartridges at the data drive or at the cartridge access port for removal.

Key prerequisites
