CAST Offers Special System Library IP Package for AMBA-Based FPGAs and SoCs

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Aug. 7 -- Silicon Intellectual Property (IP) provider CAST, Inc. and technical partner SoC Solutions LLC today announced that the complete PiP-AMBA system infrastructure library is now available in a special website-only package, with a simplified license for easy purchase, and a reduced US price of $10,000.

The PiP-AMBA provides all the basics needed for most systems built around the de facto standard AMBA bus developed by ARM, Inc. It includes bus and peripherals IP cores plus drivers and other essential software, pre-integrated and pre-verified. Designers add memory, a processor core, and any additional functions of their own to rapidly implement a complete system.

The PiP-AMBA works with a variety of popular 32-bit processor cores, including the ARC 600 and 700 families; ARM 7, 9, and Cortex-M1 families; the eASIC Nextreme ARM926EJ processor; the Gaisler Research Leon processor; and the Tensilica(R) Diamond Standard 106Micro processor.

"The PiP-AMBA makes developing systems dramatically quicker and easier," said Hal Barbour, president of CAST. "Now we've also made acquiring the PiP-AMBA quicker and easier, with an irresistible price and pretty close to a 'push-button' purchase process."

The $10,000 PiP-AMBA package is available immediately, only through the CAST website at www.cast-inc.com/systemip. Customers download an official quote and license document, then fax or send the signed license and payment or purchase order to CAST for quick delivery of the product.

About the PiP-AMBA

SoC Solutions engineers have years of experience developing 32-bit systems around processors from ARM and others, and this expertise is embodied in the PiP-AMBA. The pre-integrated system infrastructure library includes cores for the AMBA 2.0 Advanced High Performance and Advanced Peripherals Buses (AHB and APB), an AHB to APB Bridge, and an AHB Arbiter. Cores for the AHB bus include an Internal SRAM Memory Controller and External Bus Interface blocks for links to outside FLASH or SRAM memory devices.

Several commonly-used peripherals are included for the APB bus: Watchdog and Interval Timers, a Pulse Width Modulator, an Interrupt Controller, Parallel and General-Purpose IO Ports, and a 16550-compatible UART. PiP-AMBA includes support for both AHB and AHB-Lite systems.

Basic software functions in C or Assembly code are also provided so that the PiP-AMBA is ready to use out of the box. These include various drivers for peripheral devices, interrupt service routines (ISR), main code, basic boot code, and software test examples.

The PiP-AMBA was most recently publicly used to develop a complete ARM-based demonstration system in just three and a half days, approximately half the time otherwise required for an experienced design team starting from scratch.
