Surface-Mount Fuse offers operating current surge protection.

Press Release Summary:

Available in current ratings of 15 and 20 A with maximum fault current rating (Interrupt Rating) of 150 A at 24 Vdc, 0501 Series 1206-size surface-mount fuse provides operating current surge protection for high-current voltage regulator modules and dc-to-dc converters. RoHS compliant and UL and CSA approved low resistance device is lead- and halide-free, and can minimize trips during momentary overload conditions.

Original Press Release:

New Littelfuse 0501 Series Surface-Mount Fuse with High Current Ratings and High Temperature Capability Provides Reliable DC-to-DC Converter and Voltage Regulator Module Circuit Protection

New 0501 Series fuse provides high operating current surge protection at working temperatures up to 150ºC

DES PLAINES, IL - August 12, 2008 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS), today introduced the 0501 Series surface-mount 1206-size fuse, specifically designed to provide fast-acting protection for high-current voltage regulator modules and DC-to-DC converters.

With an ultra high interrupt rating of 150A at 24VDC, the 0501 Series fuse provides circuit protection against short-circuit current surges. Unlike comparable fuses, the 0501 Series has a temperature rating 20 percent higher than its closest competitor. The new fuse operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -55ºC up to 150ºC without nuisance tripping.

The 0501 Series fuses meet the growing need for circuit protection in voltage regulator modules and DC-to-DC converters. Voltage regulator modules and DC-DC converters are used in an array of electronic devices, many which rely upon batteries as their primary power source. Voltage regulator modules ensure the correct voltage is supplied to microprocessors. DC-to-DC converters ensure that adequate voltage is available, even as the battery is depleted.

The 0501 Series fuses, which are low resistance devices, have the lowest internal cold resistance available to date. The 0501 Series operates reliably over a wide temperature range and, by keeping power loss at a minimum, ensures that applications will provide best possible performance. Furthermore, due to its robust load rating, the 0501 Series effectively minimizes nuisance trips during momentary overload conditions.

The 0501 Series is available in current ratings of 15A and 20A, both with a maximum fault current rating (Interrupt Rating) of 150A, which allows this series of fuses to be used in a wide array of applications. The 0501 Series is 100 percent lead-free, halide-free, compliant with RoHS requirements, and includes UL and CSA agency approval.
