GarrettCom Offers SCP Substation-Hardened Computing Platform, Upgraded Access Management Software

SCP Utilizes CrossBow Station Access Controller (SAC) Upgrade to Deliver Outstanding Access Management at Local, as well as Global Level

Tampa, Fla. - GarrettCom®, Inc., now offers the SCP substation-hardened computing platform for running mission-critical industrial and process control software applications in harsh environments. The SCP, designed for high reliability, meets IEEE 1613 requirements for electrical power substations and features AC and DC power with redundant power options, a non-vented sealed steel enclosure, and no fans or moving parts.

SCP enables more efficient and reliable data management of distribution systems by providing a reliable information flow to departments including Planning, Engineering, Maintenance, and Protection.

The SCP is typically packaged with the CrossBow(TM) Station Access Controller, an auxiliary product that provides secure local access and control in large substations and which is used in conjunction with a centralized CrossBow Secure Access Manager server to form an integrated, comprehensive secure access management solution within a distributed utility operation such as a large substation. The newly released version 3.04 of CrossBow software offers the ability to connect to a single device or multiple devices concurrently as well as the addition of features including

  • the ability to automatically lock out a user account after a configurable number of failed login attempts,
  • easier configuration for dial-up devices, and
  • easier and more flexible scripting capability in both the control center and the field.

The substation-hardened SCP comes loaded with the Microsoft Windows® XPE Operating System, and can use 3rd party software to provide data concentration, protocol translation, and enterprise connectivity, without burdening existing SCADA/EMS systems.
Other SCP features include the Intel® Atom(TM) processor, a 2-GB DDR RAM, two COM ports, two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, and two USB ports.
