Stroboscopic Light enables real-time inspection.

Press Release Summary:

Lith-O-Light 20 AC light allows inspectors to see surface defects and imperfections in real time at full production speeds. Short-duration, high-intensity light pulses make webs moving at up to 700 m per minute appear motionless, providing images that make surface defects stand out for identification and correction. Features include cooling fan and toggle switch to change between manual operation and automatic synchronization to line speed.

Unilux Adds Better Brightness Control With Latest Addition to New Lith-O-Light Family

SADDLE BROOK, NJ April 18, 2005 - Unilux (www.unilux.com) brings better brightness control and flexibility to printing and converting inspection with the introduction of the Lith-O-Light 20 AC (LOL-20) to its LOL Style IV family. The LOL-20 AC allows press operators and inspectors to use one light for any speed line instead of having to choose among three systems to optimize viewing conditions. The new light also provides up to twice as much light as the older LOL-20 models it replaces. The light was introduced at CMM 2005 at McCormick Place, Chicago. Unilux is in Booth 3235.

"With the new LOL-20 AC, customers no longer have to decide between speed ranges when selecting a light." said Mike Simonis, president, Unilux. "This allows users more flexibility as they grow and increase operation speeds in the future. The new style IV will fit their needs now and in the future without having to upgrade lights. It also makes it easier to have one light for all of their applications so - if needed - they can move the light to another press or even to a slitter or rewinder and get the maximum benefit from their Unilux inspection light."

Unilux stroboscopic lighting enables operators and inspectors to see surface defects and imperfections in real time at full production speeds. The light's short-duration, high-intensity light pulses make webs moving at up to 700m per minute appear motionless. This, in turn, provides "frozen" images that make surface defects stand out for identification and correction.

Designed to fit the same footprint as the older Lith-O-Light (LOL)-20, the new light has a cooling fan to increase lamp life and a toggle switch to change between manual operation and automatic synchronization to line speed.

"The brighter light will be welcomed in most shops, where there are higher levels of ambient light on narrow-web equipment, especially slitters and rewinders," Simonis added. "This will allow some of them to operate without having to build hoods over the lines to block the high ambient light."

For narrow-web applications, Unilux also demonstrated the LOL-5 with a new battery handle for expanded mobility and the hand-held Miti-Light, which has earned a strong following for its trouble-shooting capabilities. For wide-web applications, Unilux had the widely accepted HD 851.
