Strain-Gage Interface Card handles multiple channels.

Press Release Summary:

AP814 allows 8 strain gage quarter-bridges to be connected in regulated 3-wire circuit so cable resistance effects are fully compensated. All 8 channels operate simultaneously, without scanning or multiplexing. Four excitation voltages are available, providing measuring range of 4-80 mV/V. Gage or bridge factors can be set directly. Measurement-without-Excitation mode allows user to distinguish between external coupling and actual measurement signals.

Original Press Release:

New Eight-Channel Quarter-Bridge Strain Gage Interface Card

Marlborough, MA - February 19, 2002 - HBM, Inc., a leading global supplier of measurement technology and data acquisition systems and software, announces another addition to its standard-setting line of multi-channel strain gage measurement products. The new AP814 Interface Card is specifically designed for single strain gages (quarter-bridges) in a three-wire circuit. It provides eight measurement channels on a single module slot that's just 0.8" (2 cm) wide.

Together with HBM's ML801 amplifier, the AP814 provides the unique benefit that all eight channels operate simultaneously - there is no scanning and no multiplexing. Digital filtering ensures synchronous channel operation and accurate phase relationships, even in multi-card applications. Sampling rates of up to 2400 samples/second are possible, Bessel and Butterworth filters are available, and the measurement frequency is variable between 0.05 Hz and 500 Hz with an effective resolution of 20 bits.

The AP814 allows eight strain gage quarter-bridges to be connected in a regulated three-wire circuit so cable resistance effects are fully compensated. Four excitation voltages are available, providing a measuring range of 4 to 80 mV/V (8,000 to 160,000 micro m/m). Gage or bridge factors can be set directly. The AP814 also features a "Measurement without Excitation" mode so you can distinguish between external coupling and actual measurement signals. To further ensure measurement integrity, a high-impedance shunt calibration mode is also provided.
