Interroll Provides Lightweight Stainless Steel Belt Drive for Food Applications
WILMINGTON, N.C. (December 18, 2002) - Interroll Corporation, a leading manufacturer of conveyor components, now provides a high-power, lightweight stainless steel belt drive specifically designed for food applications. Originally a 50-pound motorized roller, the new version weighs approximately 30 pounds because of improved material selections.
"Interroll replaced the cast iron gearbox, end housings, and motor stator with cast aluminum," said AC Drive Product Manager, Mike Gawinski. "This reduced the overall weight of the belt drive by more than 20 pounds, resulting in easier installation and a more efficient conveyor design."
Available in two sizes (model 138E at 5.45" diameter and model 165E at 6.44" diameter,) the belt drives are designed with a triple shaft sealing system that meets stringent IP66/67 sealing standards necessary for harsh food and beverage processing applications.
Models 138E and 165E are equipped with 2 and 3 stage helical/spur gearboxes with an efficiency of 95%. Model 135E is available in 0.13 to 1.0 HP with belt speeds of 10 to 300 feet per minute and model 165E is available in 0.15 to 2.0 HP with belt speeds of 12 to 480 feet per minute. Each version is equipped with a three-phase squirrel cage induction motor available for 230, 380, 460, or 575 volt power supplies.
In addition to food applications, the stainless steel belt drive may be used in medium and heavy-duty conveyor applications such as: assembly line conveyors, warehousing, vehicle loading, airport baggage handling, light agricultural, and postal conveyor applications.
