Original Press Release:

New Squeeze Handle Actuator from Southco Allows One Handed Actuation for Entry Doors

CONCORDVILLE, Pa., — Southco, Inc., a global leader in engineered access solutions, has recently introduced the AC-50 Squeeze Handle Actuator, which features ergonomic squeeze actuation and a curved profile specifically designed for easy mounting to tubular construction. Constructed of high-strength, corrosion-resistant materials and tested to 40,000 cycles, the AC-50 Squeeze Handle provides improved industrial design and functionality that is ideal for rugged outdoor environments and interior applications.

The AC-50 features a curved design that allows for mounting on rounded surfaces, such as steel tube construction. When combined with Southco R4 Rotary Latches and AC Cables, AC Actuators create a complete Rotary Latching System that provides secure, reliable remote latching for interior and exterior applications. By mounting the AC-50 in conjunction with tube construction, the corresponding AC Cable is concealed and easily routed through the application to the connected R4 Rotary Latch, providing enhanced security.

Product Manager James Stroud adds, “Southco’s AC-50 Squeeze Handle Actuator provides increased security and improves ergonomics in applications where remote access is necessary. For instance, one-handed squeeze handle actuation allows for easy release of a door mechanism located on a large piece of Off-Highway equipment. This helps to eliminate a potential falling hazard that could occur as a result of the individual removing a hand from the ladder to open the door, shifting from four points of contact with the ladder to three.”
