New Sharp SDW Software Offers Fast, Flexible Solution for Point-Of-Sale Tracking

New version 8.4 now supports all Sharp ECR and POS systems

CHICAGO, IL, May 17, 2008 -- Underscoring its commitment to providing the most robust Point-of-Sale (POS) solutions available, Sharp is introducing the latest version (8.4) of the SDW software. Providing restaurant and bar owners with a truly dynamic software solution for Sharp Electronic Cash Register (ECR) and POS systems, SDW 8.4 supports all of the latest Sharp ECR and POS solutions and combines the reliability and control of the Sharp embedded POS system at the counter with the reporting and data flexibility of an open system in the back office.

"Restaurant and bar owners require a truly end-to-end solution to keep their businesses running smoothly," said Greg Tucker, Product Planning Manager, POS Sales, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, a subsidiary of Sharp Electronics Corporation. "This means a combination of intuitive, powerful hardware with robust, analytical software that can track trends and change with the business. Sharp SDW software brings the functionality of our ECR and POS systems to a new level."

SDW is based on the industry standard Sybase® Data architecture and runs as a standard Windows®-based application, making it easy to use with simple to understand menus and screens. SDW software features scheduled or manual communication between the POS and the software to provide access for changes at the POS system and sale data in the PC for reporting. The possibility for multiple locations and direct or remote communications makes SDW a good solution for one store or many. Several optional modules allow restaurant and bar owners to meet their needs with graphic reporting, data export, inventory control, and the ability to view individual receipts and control large organizations.

With Internet connectivity, SDW can automatically email sales reports in HTML or comma delimited (CSV) format to any email address (requires optional ASCII module). SDW can run unattended, delivering data for import to popular spreadsheets and other applications for management / business analysis, and provides a number of user-definable data ranges.

Sharp SDW 8.4 will be available in June and pricing information is available upon request. For information about the complete line of Sharp point-of-sale products, contact Sharp Electronics Corporation, Sharp Plaza, Mahwah, NJ 07495-1163 or call 800-BE-SHARP.
