Original Press Release:

Custom Pretreatment Flamer for Safety Helmets

This new self-contained 360° servo flame unit was specifically designed for pretreatment of safety helmets. The surfaces of plastics and other materials vary not only in terms of texture, but in terms of surface tension - a characteristic also referred to as “surface energy” or “surface wetting”. Changing the surface tension is very important for good ink adhesion. One way to change surface tension on certain plastics is with flame pretreatment. The unit has an electronic sensor that detects the hat circumference and maintains the correct distance from the flame as it rotates. The flame can be regulated and the unit has many safety features including automatic gas shutoff and rotation stop. Light curtain safety system ensures operator safety is never compromised.
