Delta Tau Introduces Geo iDrive Family of Programmable Servo Motor Amplifiers

Geo iDrive One or Two Axis Programmable Servo Drive

CHATSWORTH, CA - MARCH 16, 2004 - Delta Tau Data Systems Inc., the technology leader in digital signal processor-based motion control solutions, today announced the Geo iDrive family of programmable one- and two-axis universal (brush, brushless and induction) servo motor 3-phase amplifiers. The Geo iDrive amplifiers provide the flexibility and power to support a wide variety of one and two axis motion control applications.

"The Geo iDrive amplifiers provide customers with a single solution both the motor amplifier and motion controller to fit a wide range of applications. The iDrive comes with free setup and tuning software that make it easy to use. Our goal was to offer an easy to use cost competitive programmable servo drive and we have met that goal with the iDrive," said Dimitri Dimitri, president, Delta Tau Data Systems, Inc.

The iDrive provides USB and Ethernet connectivity, a third encoder input for follower application, user definable I/O and can accept all the major feedback options, quadrature encoder, resolved, SSI, Endat, Hyperface and 4096 interpolated sin/cos.

The Geo iDrive family combines the power of the PMAC2, Programmable Multi-Axis Controller, with a wide selection of amplifier models in a convenient and compact package. The PMAC2 motion controller inside the Geo iDrive can be programmed for virtually any type of motion control application, and includes logic programming features for gantries, pick and place, packaging, medical systems, and general automation.

Geo iDrives are designed to operate directly off the power mains (either 240 or 480 VAC). An external 124VDC power supply for logic power is required. Most Geo iDrives are available in a 2-axis package, simplifying installation, wiring and reducing panel space requirements.

Standard features of the motion controller include:

o Motorola DSP 56k Digital Signal Processor

o Standard RS-232 communications port

o Stand-alone operation

o Linear and circular interpolation

o 256 motion program capacity

o 64 asynchronous PLC program capability

o 36-bit position range (+/- 64 billion counts)

Standard features of the amplifier include:

o Direct line connections for either 240 VAC or 480 VAC, single or three phase

o DC operation from 24VDC to 740 VDC

o Designed for UL and CE listing (pending)

o Primary encoder for each axis with TTL differential/single-ended inputs with A, B quadrature channels and C index channel, SSI, Endat, Hyperface, Resolver and sin/cos with 4096 interpolation 10 MHz cycle rate and Hall-effect inputs

o Eight digital inputs @24V per 1-or 2-axis drive

o Two 16 bit analog to digital inputs
