Serial Bus System includes Profibus-DP protocol.

Press Release Summary:

FlexSAM modular communication package offers direct control of up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs without discrete wiring of remote operating valve manifolds. Input modules accept NPN or PNP inputs without circuitry or wiring changes. System includes output diagnostics for auto detection of short circuits, built-in emergency stop that turns off all outputs while keeping communications and inputs alive, and NEMA 4 protection.

Original Press Release:

Parker FlexSAM Serial Bus System Now Available With Profibus-DP Protocol

The Pneumatic Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation now offers its FlexSAM Serial Bus system with the Profibus-DP protocol. This widely accepted protocol is designed for high-speed data transfer at the sensor actuator level. The FlexSAM Profibus-DP product was tested according to PTO (Profibus Trade Organization) guidelines, in conformance with 'Test Specification for Profibus-DP Slaves, Issue V2.0 February 2000'. The new FlexSAM / Profibus-DP system is approved to be CE-marked and also has passed EMC tests for radiated and conducted emissions, and immunity from electrostatic discharge and electric fast transient burst.

The Parker FlexSAM Serial Bus System is a modular communication package that is simple to field retrofit and provides exceptional flexibility, offering direct control of up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs without discrete wiring of remote operating valve manifolds. Input Modules accept NPN or PNP inputs without any circuitry or wiring changes. The modules utilize Rotary switches for node addressing and baud rate setting, eliminating the need for software and reducing on-site node commissioning and troubleshooting time. The system features output diagnostics for auto detection of short circuits, a built-in emergency stop features that quickly turns off all outputs while keeping communications and inputs alive, and NEMA 4 protection that enables modules to be mounted directly on a machine, thus elimninating the need for an enclosure.
